A grand gathering celebrating the centenary of the Communist Party of China was held at Tian'anmen Square at the heart of Beijing on Thursday.

空中梯队飞行庆祝表演中，空中梯队71架战机列阵长空，飞向天安门广场，向党送上生日祝福。

A total of 71 aircraft from the People's Liberation Army flew past Tian'anmen Square in central Beijing on Thursday morning at the beginning of a grand gathering celebrating the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

29架直升飞机拼出了“100”的形状，稳稳地从天安门广场上空飞过。

Military aircraft flew over Tian'anmen Square in echelons. Helicopters flew in the formation of "100", representing the 100 years of the Party.

陈列在广场边的礼炮整整放了100响。每一响都令人振奋，每一响都震撼人心。

A 100-gun salute was fired. A national flag-raising ceremony was held.

从人民英雄纪念碑到国旗杆220米的距离，国旗护卫队由齐步、正步、齐步各100步完成。

We gather here tojoin all Party members and Chinese people of all ethnic groups around thecountry in celebrating the centenary of the Party, looking back on the gloriousjourney the Party has traveled over 100 years of struggle, and looking aheadto the bright prospects for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

To begin, let me extend warm congratulations to all Party members onbehalf of the CPC Central Committee.

On this special occasion, it is my honor to declare on behalf of the Partyand the people that through the continued efforts of the whole Party and theentire nation, we have realized the first centenary goal of building amoderately prosperous society in all respects. This means that we havebrought about a historic resolution to the problem of absolute poverty inChina, and we are now marching in confident strides toward the secondcentenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in allrespects. This is a great and glorious accomplishment for the Chinese nation,for the Chinese people, and for the Communist Party of China!

Since the very day of its founding, the Party has made seeking happinessfor the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation its aspirationand mission. All the struggle, sacrifice, and creation through which the Partyhas united and led the Chinese people over the past hundred years has beentied together by one ultimate theme—bringing about the great rejuvenation ofthe Chinese nation.

中国共产党一经诞生，就把为中国人民谋幸福、为中华民族谋复兴确立为自己的初心使命。一百年来，中国共产党团结带领中国人民进行的一切奋斗、一切牺牲、一切创造，归结起来就是一个主题：实现中华民族伟大复兴。

Through tenacious struggle, the Party and the Chinese people showed theworld that the Chinese people had stood up, and that the time in which theChinese nation could be bullied and abused by others was gone forever.

中国共产党和中国人民以英勇顽强的奋斗向世界庄严宣告，中国人民站起来了，中华民族任人宰割、饱受欺凌的时代一去不复返了！

The people are the true heroes, for it is they who create history.

人民是历史的创造者，是真正的英雄。

At the same time, we are also eager to learn what lessons wecan from the achievements of other cultures, and welcome helpfulsuggestions and constructive criticism. We will not, however, accept sanctimonious preaching from those who feel they have the right to lecture us.

我们积极学习借鉴人类文明的一切有益成果，欢迎一切有益的建议和善意的批评，但我们绝不接受“教师爷”般颐指气使的说教！

Any attempt to divide the Party from the Chinese people or to set the people against the Party is bound to fail. The more than 95 million Party members and the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people will never allow such a scenario to come to

pass.

任何想把中国共产党同中国人民分割开来、对立起来的企图，都是绝不会得逞的！9500多万中国共产党人不答应！14亿多中国人民也不答应！

No one should underestimate the resolve, the will,and the ability of the Chinese people to defend their national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

任何人都不要低估中国人民捍卫国家主权和领土完整的坚强决心、坚定意志、强大能力！

By the same token, we will never allow anyforeign force to bully, oppress, or subjugate us. Anyone who would attemptto do so will find themselves on a collision course with a great wall of steelforged by over 1.4 billion Chinese people.
